We are excited to announce that, in an effort to better align our release tiers with industry standards and to provide greater clarity on the stability and readiness of our software releases, we are renaming the following JetBackup release tiers:
The “Stable” tier will be renamed to “Release”
The “Beta” tier will be renamed to “Release Candidate”
What Does This Mean for You?
Release: This is our fully tested and production-ready version. Users on this tier can expect the most stable experience, with all major bugs resolved and full support available.
Release Candidate: This tier represents a version of our software that is feature-complete and has undergone extensive testing. While it is close to being production-ready, it may still have some minor issues. We recommend this tier for users who want to experience the latest features early and are comfortable with potential minor bugs.
No Action Required
These changes has already take into effect starting August 2024. You do not need to take any action, and your current settings will remain intact under the new release tier names.
How will this affect my automations/scripts?
Backward compatibility with existing automation/scripts was of utmost importance to us when considering this change. With this in mind, you can continue using the old tier names with the JetApps CLI and your existing scripts, and the equivalent tier will be set accordingly.
We believe this change will make it easier for you to choose the best release tier for your needs and give you a clearer understanding of the software’s readiness for your environment.
